Freeze-O-Ree 2009

When I say it was cold...I am talking about single digits. 4 brave scouts came with a great attitude and camped and ate heartily. It was sausage and peppers cooked outside for lunch, a dutch oven based stew for dinner and then excellent scrambled eggs with left over sausage in the morning. The cabin stove kept us comfortable...until it ran out of wood, but we kept it going as best possible.

Besides cooking the scouts managed to put up the flag, create a proper axe yard, set up a good fire and complete a 1+ mile orienteering course with just headings and a compass and tree markers. It was important that they completed on time as disk falls fast in January !

The only bummer of the trip was for one scout who was creamed in a game of WAR (card game) by his leader. But why rub it in ?
