June:
Service Friday, June 4th, 6:45-9pm @ The OLD Dutch
Reformed Church
Reformed
Church Service (THIS Friday evening):
What: Reformed Church Honor Guard /
Luminary Setup / Walking assistance / Troop representation
When: Friday evening, from 6:45 PM- 9:00
PM
Where: The scouts would meet at the
old
Dutch Reformed Church and assist the church in welcoming people in as
they celebrate their 325th anniversary. Our sponsor is older than our country !
Who: We need as many can make it in
their full uniform !
We have definite commitments from Colin and Justin, Bobby, Gavin, Griffen, Adam
and Timmy. We could use some adult oversight as well as I believe Mr. Tucci may
have to work and I may slightly delayed trying to get up from NYC.
Details...as per Rev. Jeff Gargano (
Please bring your flashlights )
"...the church is hoping to lift the profile of the Old Dutch Church in its
325th year. Our first event will be a "welcome to Old Dutch"
on June 4 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. We thought it would be great if a handful
of scouts could be on hand to direct people up the walkway, help with the
lighting of luminaries as it gets darker, and "stand guard" over some pretty old
documents. I don't think it will be onerous, but would require an adult or two
and probably a half dozen boys. More would be great, but I understand that
they and their families have lives as well...
As I explained to the boys we will need a couple of "guards" to bring
gravitas to the old historic book we will be displaying inside the church. We
will also need some help, if it is needed, in getting the elderly up an
embankment onto the burying ground. It would also be nice to help get people
back to their cars in the dark. Can boys be asked to bring flashlights if they
have them? And one last thing .... organizers thought it would be nice to have
luminaries set up along the walkway up to the church, and to create a "walking
trail" on the side of the burying ground. Would your scouts be willing to do
create these? It is just a paper bag, with sand or
cat litter, and a small
votive candle set in the
sand."
Service Sunday, June 6th, 9-10AM @ Tarrytown
Historical Sociaety Building
